Rangatira Wharetatao King, guided by the wisdom of the Tūpuna (ancestors), undertook a sacred journey to the spiritual realms. In this journey, she was sent back by the tūpuna with a significant mission: to establish a Kāhui Tauwhiro (Transitional Body Commissioned Consultant Member) to serve the eight waka and complete what the Tūpuna instructed Rangatira Waretatao. This act honours the mana (authority) and tikanga (customs) of each rohe, ensuring the continuation of their whakapapa (lineage) and collective wellbeing. Rangatira Wharetatao King, led by the tūpuna with clear instructions and insight, appointed the members of Kāhui Tauwhiro and the Kaitiaki Taonga.

Te Waka O Nga Mokopuna Ki Aotearoa is the result of our ancestors foresight & vision to ensure a healthy future for their descendants & their birthright resources.
As well as our inherent evolving cultural consciousness the legacy includes: the ancient oral archives encapsulated in our language & performance, traditions, & the specially preserved Ko Nga Ture with specific, accompanying, korero, the latter to ensure any deception regarding our history would be revealed & our inalienable sovereign birthrights honoured by any & every, just & moral society.
Te Waka O Nga Mokopuna Ki Aotearoa stands OUTSIDE the web of the current colonial system, NEVER given authority over, forever remaining as Rangatira Maori, the true Sovereign in Right of Aotearoa. Tikanga / Immutable Divine Law remains the Law of the Land of Aotearoa.
Te Waka O Nga Mokopuna Ki Aotearoa simply holds the Maori people up as totally Sovereign in Right & Sovereign in their homelands by virtue of the gifted flag (1832), personalised by the Maori people, 1835 Declaration of Independence, the 1858 Letter of Request from Queen Victoria. Both documents & lawful instruments that clearly decree the Royal Standard; the mokopuna(s)' Rejection Absolute 9 November 2002, Re-affirmed Declaration of Independence 28 October 2004; & subsequent correspondence with Queen Elizabeth II, & the current colonial administration.
Te Waka O Nga Mokopuna Ki Aotearoa re-asserts, without prejudice, the Sovereign Authority of the Confederated Hapu of Tiritiri-O-Te-Moana / Aotearoa (New Zealand) & Tikanga/Immutable Divine Law as the inviolate law incumbent on all who live therein.
The Letter "KO NGA TURE", compiled, sent to the press and distributed to all Maori whakapapa, at the request of Queen Victoria in 1858 is just such a
tool.
